Travel Archives

All of our photos have been placed in storage as we transition to our next place of semi-permanent existence. Lazily, I have only scanned a small portion of them, despite having access to a computer every day of my life. I have goals to get all of our photos and travel stories documented in the near future. For the time being, I have a few artifacts from our journeys and anecdotes to go along with them.

ARTIFACT #002: Torres Novas, Portugal: Triston and Phillip were a couple of guys from Germany that showed up unexpectedly one afternoon with big smiles on their faces and a willingness to have fun. We were taken aback by their large appetites, as they ate up all of our Muesli rations! June 09, 2004 - I found the film, "The Beach" at our local library and watched it last night. It has planted a seed in my mind. I can not stop thinking about traveling and exploring. I keep having visions of our past travels in Europe. I can see myself sitting on the porch overlooking the Portugal countryside. As the sun would set, all of the hills in the horizon would glow with a golden light. It seemed like life couldn't get any more satisfying. We had such a simple rhythm to our days. I actually read "The Beach" during a work-stay on a farm in Portugal. It was a fig farm in Torres Novas, that was a part of the Willing Workers on Organic Farms (WWOOF) program. It was the perfect book to read at that stage of my travels because I could relate so well to those travelers on their quest for the unknown. Despite the owners of the fig farm, we managed to have a great experience.
