We had some guests in town from Florida for the past few days. Immediately after King’s Island was mentioned in the planning process, it became set in stone. We lucked out by going on a Tuesday and experiencing minimal lines for almost every ride. I realized during the day that my body may not be able to take as much of a beating (internally and externally) as it used to. I tweeted my way through the day to document the adventure. If you missed it, the transcript follows.

- 09:02 AM - We are off to Kings Island for the day. Rollercoasters and midwestern folk await.
- 11:08 AM - Just rocked out on Scooby Doo and the haunted castle. Ruh roh!
- 11:31 AM - Fairly odd coaster used to be the Beastie. Front row! 11:45 AM - Already feeling nausea setting in and we are still in Nickelodeon Universe. Rugrats Rapter next.
- 12:00 PM - Oh snap! Essentially no one in line for The Beast.
- 12:01 PM - Tank tops should be banned on hot days.
- 12:25 PM - I might have broken a rib on The Beast.
- 01:16 PM - Just got soaked on a water ride. What is it about discomfort that is so appealing?
- 02:55 PM - Feeling rejuvenated after lunch, but the nausea threshold is way down. Must. Continue. Now.
- 04:21 PM - I am def not a kid anymore. An ICEE sounds tasty right about now.
- 04:45 PM - Son of Beast was thrilling but it just took the ol’wind out of my sails.
- 07:03 PM - Time to let B enjoy some water and rides. Leo and I are kickin it sling-stylie. Shea stayed home with Grammy-B.
- 09:44 PM - Final ride is the Beast at night. Always a treat. Meanwhile, Leo and I cant stop singing: dad is great, he makes us chocolate cake (cosby).

I sing to Shea most nights at bedtime. Usually it is a song about dump trucks or Grandpa’s broken wheels, but occasionally I burst out with “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash.
Me: Doo doo doo do do do do doo, Love is a burning thing…
Shea: Why?
Me: And it makes a fiery ring…
Shea: Why Daddy?
Me: Bound by wild desire…
Shea: Daddy, please talk about this!
So I attempted to explain how the song is talking about love. He came up with his own solution:
Shea: The fire truck will drive there and help put out the fire.

I just realized that I had written entries in LiveJournal for a few months in 2005 as I was fixing up my house and preparing to become a father (for the first time). I went ahead and added them to barbatobox, just for archiving purposes. Now, I have a pretty substantial gap in my entries from December 2005 through June 2008. We’ll call it: Shea and Leo.

I came across rcrdlbl.com recently. They are a record company that promotes free music. Additionally, they have a selection of artists’ music available from other labels. A couple of new favorites:

I have always felt like photos express my message much better than words. That is why I have always maintained a site filled with photos. Every once in a while though, I do have something to say. I have always wanted to add an easy to use blogging tool to barbatobox (Wordpress). Recently, I came across a really clean and simple Wordpress theme that seemed to fit what I had in mind. Instead of starting from scratch, I figured I would just tweak the DePo Skinny Theme a little. Only time will tell what direction this goes.
