Ooooh that smell, Can’t you smell that smell?!

UH OH
Front Window

Yes, I have been listening to classic rock on the radio during my evenings at the house. Well, at least until I came across a box of cds that I thought was kitchen utensils. It was an exciting day when I found my music. Bonus. “That Smell” is very popular on the radio station here in the Wayner. As it turns out, it is from Lynyrd Skynyrd’s 1977 release, Street Survivors. Who knew? It made good theme music for my basement, until recently…

It has been a big week at Arlington. We started out with the 2nd batch of new windows arriving on Sunday. Donnie was so excited that he could not help but install the two most challenging ones right away.

On Tuesday, Roto Rooter came to get started on our newest project: replacing a bunk sewer pipe. They made a proposal on Friday, based on the results of their sewer-cam inspection.

No More Smells

By the end of the day we had a new pipe in a big hole and a big pile of stinky dirt in the basement. Meanwhile, Donnie had gotten the rest of windows installed. The plumbers returned on Wednesday to finish the job and spread some concrete over the hole. No more funky smells coming out of that hole!

Smoothed Over by Roto

So now I can stop talking about my sewer.

Last night I was able to change things up a bit and prime the walls and the woodwork in all three bedrooms. It started raining just after dark. It was a steady rain, but it was not pouring. Every once in a while, I would hear a big splash that sounded like a car going through a puddle. I wondered what the heck it was, but I just kept on priming. Then it occurred to me: the sump pump! It was working! I didn’t know if it was operable or not…but it proved itself. It was spraying a gallon of water every five minutes out the side of my house, directly into my neighbor’s driveway! Haha.

Bridget purchased a variety of paint for the walls and the trim. This weekend my parents are coming to town to help paint the bedrooms. Also, Uncle Bill and Aunt Judy are planning on joining us on Sunday. It will be a big weekend at 3814. I can’t wait!
